You might hear or see the word ESSA somewhere on our website, and a good few of you wouldn't know what that means! ESSA stands for Emotion Support Stuffed Animal. ESSA's are typically used for people suffering from things such as anxiety or autism, though they can be helpful for many other things like dementia, PTSD, depression and more! Our realistic plush dogs are so cuddly and have oodles of love to give to those in need.
My plush dogs come with me most places. I have an emotional bond with them and brushing them or patting them helps me manage my anxiety, especially in crowded places or when things are difficult (like getting a blood test). At first I was shy about taking them out but most people are excited and often think my plush dogs are real.
Back at home, I like to organise my plush dogs, brush them, and make videos feeding them. It helps me relax and takes my mind off things.
Lacey Lane's collection of realistic plush dogs are symbols of comfort, security, and love. They also help people to connect with others. Plushies can provide comfort and security by acting as transitional objects and can help peopel to channel their anxious thoughts and emotions.
Our realistic plush dogs are loved by many. On one of our walks with Spencer (the plush Golden Retriever) we counted 50 people who smiled or stopped to talk to us. Most wanted to know where we got him and told us stories of how a realistic plush dog would be great for the kids (who always ask for a dog), for their neighbour (who loves retrievers), for an older relative (who can no longer have a dog) or for those wanted to remember their fave pet.
Yes, they are! Our plushies are ethically-made, easy to care for, machine-washable, safe, and hypoallergenic.
Lacey's realistic plush dogs need regular washing as they are always on outings to the beach, park and shops and sometimes even have a swim in the ocean or the creek! Lacey's washes her plushies on a gentle cycle in a laundry bag (this stops the eyes from getting scratched). Once they are dry, give them a shake and brush them (we use a pet brush).
